Bodom Trail 2017

My personal trail running season 2017 started last Saturday in Bodom Trail 2017 near lake Bodom in Espoo, Finland. The atmosphere was high and luckily we got sunny weather, just week before the run the ground was covered in snow and two days after the run we got snow again!

Bodom Trail 21km is part of Buff Trail Tour Finland and this year the Bodom Trail was extended to two day event that includes Bodom Team and Bodom Night-running races. Last year the event was the most popular Trail Running event in Finland. The route options for Bodom Trail were 12km  and 21km and you can decide which one you run during the race, I chose the 12km option because of the knee problems what I have had lately.

Trail was moderately technical and covered with lots of roots and small but steep hills. Some parts had dense forrest and some mud and what I heard and judging by the muddy runners the 21km route had also refreshing swamps with knee deep pockets! Overall the nature around lake Bodom is Finland at its best with forrest and lakes.

After the Bodom Trail 2017 Im excited to sign up for the next years Bodom Trail and try to rehab my knees so I can do better on this year Norway mountaineering adventures and maybe even do  the 25km on the Helsinki City Trail 2017! 😎

If you are interested in Trail Running in Finland I suggest you put the next years Bodom Trail race day in your calendar and book flight tickets to Helsinki! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻
