Hiking Route to Segla
To start the hike, park your car at the parking lot near the primary school. The trail is well-marked and starts with a tractor path that leads to a path. You will find a wooden box on the path where you can leave feedback about your hike when you are descending. The first part of the hike is through a birch forest with some slippery parts. After 30 minutes, you will reach the ridge and see the last but steep part of the rest of the hike. Before starting the last part, it’s a good idea to enjoy the view and some refreshments. When you start climbing to the top, you can see the fisher village Husøy on the right side in the middle of Øyfjorden. Just before reaching the summit, you will reach a couple of narrow spots where you can enjoy the steep drop of 600 meters to the ocean. If you are afraid of heights, it might be a good idea to go around big boulders from the right side and not between the drop and the boulder.
Atop the summit, you will find a notebook and a Norwegian flag, along with an incredible view.
When descending, be careful of loose stones and avoid putting stones rolling down the route. After reaching the flat part of the ridge, take some time to walk a little further and take another look at Segla from another angle.
After the hike you can enjoy delicious and big pizzas with refreshingly cold beer at the Segla grill.
